Terpenes, pronounced 'ter-peen,' are a class of volatile organic compounds composed primarily of hydrogen and carbon atoms. Structurally, they are hydrocarbons and are characterized by their assembly from two or more isoprene units. Terpenes play a crucial role in the aromatic and flavor properties of various plants and are significant in the production of essential oils, among other applications.

Where do terpenes come from?

There are currently more than 23,000 plants in nature that produces hundreds of their own terpenes to perform a wide range of functions for the plant from pest management, disease repair, protection, and aroma. What is still unknown is the amount of individual terpenes produced by each plants as there are still so many to be identified.

What is the difference between a terpene isolate and a profile?

A single terpene isolate is one terpene variety on its own. A profile is a specific recipe of terpenes that when combined offer a more unique and interesting experience. Terpene isolates are specially processed in order to distill high purity isolates and are difficult to source. Leave that work to our skilled technical team know you are always getting the highest purity and quality guaranteed.

Are terpenes the same as essential oils?

Terpenes are one part of a plant’s essential oils, more research is discovering that much of a plant produces are terpenes however there are other molecules and compounds that are in the mix when we use the term essential oil, as well as a variety of terpenes, also called its profile.

What is the difference between Strain Profiles and Terpene-based Blends?

All of our products are formulated using high quality, pure terpene isolates sources individually from hundreds of different plants. Once qualified for use in our products each profile is formulated. Strain Profile products recreate the aroma of common cannabis cultivars by replicating its unique combination of terpenes and contain only terpene ingredients. The blend product category has profiles that are more diverse and can include fruit, floral, outdoor, or even pop aromas like Root Beer. Terpene-based blends use a balanced base of cannabis native terpenes in addition to fragrance ingredients consistent with the Blend. All products have a Bill of Materials associated with its composition for complete transparency.

What are your most popular profiles?

Common profiles that have been trending since Health Canada 2.0 products began to launch are Death Bubba, Pink Kush, Blueberry, Pineapple Express, and Blue Dream. Some new profiles we are working on and you can look for later in 2021 are Banana, Coconut, Papaya, Chai, Dr. Haze, Hawaiian Haze!
